Whilst I am fully aware than many people's lives and livelihoods have been devastated in the past 12-months and notwithstanding the potential for a "third wave" I hope you will forgive me for trying to strike a more positive note in "shed news"
Several of our members have been doing their best to get maximum value from the NHS recently and in particular I would like to wish John Smith and Nick Mowll a speedy return to fitness as we have much to look forward to in the next few weeks as restrictions are lifted;
- Groups of up to six meeting outdoors
- Pubs opening for outdoor service (maximum groups of 6 people or 2-households) from April 12th
- Clifftop meetings (weather permitting) from May 17th onwards
- Greystone's Workshop re-opening from July 5th
- Progress on the lease for the School House
- CMS AGM
Nick Mowll has suggested that groups of up to 6 members might like to meet up for tea and a chat so if anyone is interested, let me know and I will see what we can organise.
Les Mercer would be happy to participate in a members zoom session so again, if anyone would like to join in, let me know.
I will plan to arrange a cliff-top meeting as soon as the weather and restrictions allow.
Beginners Archery Courses
Several of our members enjoyed a beginners archery session with Sway Bowmen last year arranged through Brian Vaughn.
Brian has forwarded the link for this year's events in April,May and two in June.
Co-op Community Fund
To date, our local Co-op community fund has raised a total of £249 for Christchurch Men's Shed.
We have received £158 so far being the first of two payments through 2021.
Many thanks to the Co-op and everyone who has shopped there and selected CMS as their fund to support - we are going to need all the help we can get once the School House project gets underway, so tell your friends and keep on shopping at the Co-op.......
.......and speaking of the School House
I don't want to get everyone over excited about this but it does look like we are making progress.
We have seen the draft lease which appears to give us what we wanted in terms of costs, access, responsibilities etc.
As of now, the documents are with the solicitors and we understand that the HRA (Highcliffe Residents Association) are equally keen to get this "over the line"
So, wouldn't it be just perfect if we got the lease sorted just in time for the remaining lockdown restrictions to be lifted........watch this space (but don't hold your breath)
2021 Membership Fees
HCA
Any existing members of the HCA (Highcliffe Community Association) at Greystones should by now have received either an email or a letter from them with details of the 2021 renewal process.
Membership of the HCA will be £10 and as our existing workshop and "shed" is based at Greystone's, anyone wishing to use these facilities will be required to be a member of HCA.
Even assuming that the lease for the School House goes through without further delay, it is likely to be many months before we can relocate our workshop and all its contents so I would encourage all our existing members to renew their membership of the HCA.
